Promoting Project Drawdown
In May of 2017, a major resource for the general public on climate change mitigation was published. Entitled Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming, the book provides a detailed blueprint for how individuals, governments, businesses, and organizations can play a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Since the publication of Drawdown, CCA has been
promoting the book to members and other associates as
the go-to reference manual on resource efficiency, corporate
responsibility, and the direction of the green economy. CCA
has worked to demonstrate how the contribution of corporate
leaders to climate mitigation could be significant if they
became more aware of how seriously their businesses’
performance could be affected by climate change. Drawdown
reveals the flip side of this issue─how businesses can benefit
by having a stake in funding and implementing climate solutions.
A case in point: the vast majority of solutions presented in
Drawdown contribute to economic growth in either the short or long
term, or both. (Entries were vetted according to whether they are “economically viable” and present a “business case.”) In partnership with private equity firm TJM Capital, CCA is developing an impact fund for investing in organizations whose products and initiatives support the top 20 solutions featured in Drawdown.
